At St. Thomas School, we believe education is more than academics — it’s about nurturing confident,

Rooted in strong values and
guided by a spirit of excellence, we prepare our students to think critically, act responsibly, and grow
into well-rounded individuals ready to face the challenges of tomorrow.
The idea of establishing St. Thomas School, Ujjain was born in 2004, when the members of the Missionary Society of St. Thomas the Apostle (MST) envisioned a school that would provide quality education rooted in moral and spiritual values. The society, already active in various parts of India, felt a strong need for an educational institution that could serve the people of Ujjain by nurturing children into responsible, compassionate, and enlightened citizens. The initiative was guided by two visionary leaders — Very Rev. Fr. Kurian Ammanathukunnel, the then Director General of MST, and Very Rev. Fr. Peter Vattappara, the Regional Director. Their dream was to create a learning community that not only imparted knowledge but also developed the character and leadership qualities of every student.
After years of careful planning and preparation, St. Thomas School officially opened its doors on 4th July 2006. The inaugural function was held with a simple yet meaningful ceremony attended by members of the MST, local supporters, and the first batch of students. The school began its academic journey in a rented building at Mangal Colony, Ujjain, with around 40 students and a handful of teachers. Despite its modest infrastructure, the school quickly became known for its disciplined environment, personalized attention, and focus on holistic development. Within a few years, its name began to shine among the emerging educational institutions in the city.
The steady progress of St. Thomas School is a testament to the dedicated leadership of its managers, principals, and staff.
Alongside them, several dedicated priests and educators have played vital roles in shaping the school’s journey — including Rev. Fr. James Thakadiyel, Rev. Fr. Varghese, Rev. Fr. Sojan (Joseph Unnieppillil), Rev. Fr. Jonson Kuppayil, Rev. Fr. Varghese (Biju) Cherolil, and Rev. Fr. Joseph (Binu) Pandyal. Each contributed their unique strengths — from academic innovation to pastoral care — enriching the legacy of the school.
From its humble beginnings, St. Thomas School has steadily evolved into a well-established and respected institution in Ujjain. What began as a small initiative has grown into a vibrant educational community that values both academic excellence and character formation. The school’s success rests on its commitment to nurturing young minds through quality teaching, discipline, co-curricular activities, and moral guidance. Today, St. Thomas School proudly stands as a symbol of the MST’s mission — “to educate, empower, and enlighten.” Its growth story continues to inspire parents, teachers, and students who believe in the transformative power of education.
